As a federally qualified health center and an affiliate of Massachusetts General Hospital, North End Waterfront Health extends its world-renowned healthcare services to people who live and work in and around Boston's North End and Charlestown neighborhoods.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide operational leadership to the health center and will work with the Board in setting strategic direction. The CEO will be accountable for NEW Health's overall management and performance.

The CEO must facilitate organizational transformation, enhance organizational capacity and capabilities, and ensure quality and financial sustainability for the future. The CEO will also help strengthen the Board and cultivate trust, open communication and collaboration with key stakeholder groups including private and public organizations, elected officials at all levels of government, the business and medical communities and the communities the health center serves including but not limited to the North End, Waterfront and Charlestown.

Specific responsibilities include:

Lead the health center to develop a vision for the future and translate that vision into action.

  • Work with the Board and Senior leadership team to maintain and update the existing strategic plan, create short and long-term goals, and ensure the health center's priorities are achieved.
  • Balance the health center's passion for the mission with its need to effectively operate as a business.
Strengthen and continuously improve the health center's organizational capacities, such as its personnel, systems and processes as it continues to deliver quality care to a diverse and growing patient population.
  • Motivate staff and Board and oversee health center operations in a way that realizes the mission, ensures excellence and encourages innovation.
  • Cultivate a culture of organizational openness and fairness; and improve internal communications and team performance.
  • Develop strategies to support collaboration with the medical team in program development and resource allocation.
  • Attract and retain a diverse team of talented, culturally competent clinical, professional and administrative staff.
  • Assure high professional standards are maintained throughout the health centers.
  • Continue to enhance the integration of MGH systems into NEW Health operations.
  • Evaluate our ACO participation and the evolving health care environment into managed care.
Ensure the financial and operational integrity of the health center.
  • Continually assess the administrative, clinical and management systems, staffing structures, facilities, and use of technology and resources to ensure excellence, improve efficiency and effectiveness and support current and future health center needs.
  • Work to establish long-term financial sustainability by building on current and developing new revenue models.
  • Actively seek and apply for grants, gifts and potential development funds to enhance and supplemental existing revenue.
  • Coordinate and oversee fundraising activities including leading Taste of the North End.
  • Continually clarify organizational structure and roles: implement policies that are fair, consistent and advance racial justice and equity.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and complete financial reporting of financial and operational information and assure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements as required by the federal government and the Mass. DPH.
  • Oversee Joint Commission, NCQA and HRSA requirements for compliance and readiness.
Cultivate existing and develop new partnerships and collaborations with local and regional organizations committed to providing health care and community services.
  • Work actively to forge and build a diverse range of partners and collaborate with key stakeholder groups.
  • Engage in building an effective collaboration with local health care providers.
Create visibility about the health center movement's important role in the provision of health care services, and market the Health Center and its services.
  • Represent the health center in local, state and national forums to promote the health center's innovative approaches and excellent care in furthering health care opportunities for the underserved. Serve on committees at the Boston Conference of Health Centers, the MassLeague and the National Association of Community Health Centers.
  • Advocate effectively for support of health centers with elected officials.
  • Serve and appoint Board Members to our housing collaboration project.
Work effectively and in partnership with the Board of Directors to strengthen Health Center's future position.
  • Keep all Board members engaged and focused, maximizing their talents.
  • Enable the Board to make informed decisions that best promote the health center and its mission by keeping them informed about internal performance as well as environmental factors that will have an impact on opportunities and overall performance.
  • Help to build and develop a strong consumer-oriented Board and explore issues around Board composition, development and governance.


Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in business administration, health care administration, public health or related field required
  • 7-10 years of leadership and operations experience with increasing management and professional responsibilities in a health care setting, with strong preference for Federally Qualified Health Center experience
