Maplewood at Newtown is located at 166 Mount Pleasant Road, Newtown, CT. However, we will not be accepting walk-in applications at this time. Please apply online or call 203-426-8118.
The Chef prepares and services meals for the dietary department in a safe and appetizing method in compliance with dietary standards, policy and procedures. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with Maplewood Senior Living philosophy.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with Culinary Services Director to order as needed
Prepare appetizing meals based on Maplewood standards
Clean and maintain food service areas
Engage with staff, residents, and guests to ensure high level of satisfaction
Led kitchen staff to maintain positive working e-vironment with a strong focus on team
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
Serve Safe Certification required
Working knowledge of rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation
Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures essential in accordance to state guidelines
Knowledge of various cuts of meat and seasonings
Demonstrates ability in a wide range of food preparation and skills
Experience in dealing with seniors and their dietary needs preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Maplewood Senior Living conducts pre-employment screening including background check, drug screening and reference checks.
