Position Summary:

As part of the CHAP leadership team, assists in the administrative and clinical support required of the Community Health Aide Program. This position will focus efforts on ensuring that all village-based clinics are reaching TJC compliance, to the fullest extent possible. They will also be responsible to ensure CHA/Ps receive adequate training regarding TJC and HIPAA/Privacy requirements, as well as any other policy or policies that relate to clinical compliance issues. Responsibilities include teaching Health Aides during session and village visits, extensive village travel, and clinical knowledge of medical equipment used by Health Aides. Collaborates with YKHC staff, local Traditional Village and City Councils, and staff from other agencies to ensure the best possible healthcare within the villages of the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta region.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Broad range of healthcare background with demonstrated healthcare expertise Bachelors degree required in health related field, RN preferred. Demonstrated understanding of clinical compliance issues mandated by TJC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Minimum Experience:
    • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in clinic management.
    • Strong supervisory, management and teaching skills.
    • Dependable, and maintains confidentiality.
    • Able and willing to leave the home base for periods of time for training and job assignments.
    • Able and willing to perform job functions, including travel, year-round in sub artic conditions.
    • Able to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • License, Certifications, Registration:
    • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License or ability to acquire driver's license.
    • Satisfactory reference and criminal checks.
    • Negative drug screen.
  • Equipment/Tools: Office machines (i.e., multi-line telephones, computers, copy machines, faxes, etc.)
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
    • Significant experience using Word processing software, Excel, Power Point, E-mail, Web searches, and graphs and charts.
    • Must be adept with EMR and its modules within 3 months of hire. Experience writing reports.
    • Excellent human relations skills and oral/written communication skills.
    • Able to effectively use English for both written and verbal communication.
    • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity of the cultural discrepancies that is present within YK-Delta communities.
