Job Role Summary

The Certified Massage Therapist - PRN performs as a Certified Massage Therapist professional who engages solely in helping to relax and rejuvenate the body through massage therapy. This position functions as a clinical expert in the massage therapist role and consults with medical director regarding plans of care for patients and clients as needed. This position works on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs as a Certified Massage Therapist professional who engages solely in helping to Relax and Rejuvenate the body through massage therapy.

  • Functions as clinical expert in the massage therapist role and consults with medical director regarding plans of care for patients and clients as needed
  • Maintains clinical competency related to massage therapist role, products, procedures and certification
  • Provides direct patient and client contact for massage therapy services
  • Provides consistent high quality customer service
  • Provides massage therapy services to clients and patients to include the following:
    • Consultation and education
    • Upper body massage or lower body massage
    • Full body massage
  • Maintains knowledge and competency of massage related products regarding appropriate use, side effects, contraindications and price points on the following:
    • Cosmetic preparations
    • Antiseptics
    • Lotions
    • Tonics
    • Creams
  • Maintains infection control practices of spa area to include the following:
    • Hand hygiene before and after patient/client contact
    • Cleaning and sanitization of equipment
    • Cleaning and sanitization of tools
    • Maintains area in consistent state of regulatory readiness
  • Maintains documentation for medical records on patients coming for medical spa procedures under the direction of medical director
  • Obtains consent for services
  • Maintains client and patient treatment log for service consistency
  • Tracks ongoing inventory of all products
  • Maintains product ordering and tracking
  • Maintains responsibility for payment collection for services and products
  • Maintains active and up to date patient and client charges consistently in collaboration with area leadership
  • Registers patients and enters charges into EPIC system
  • Maintains patient charge reconciliation procedures
  • Attends and is active participant in burn and cosmetic plastics clinics if needed
  • Maintains referral base for clients and patient through clinic settings
  • Collaborates with medical director and other spa team members with marketing

Job Requirements

  • Current active MASSAGE THERAPIST CERTIFICATION to practice in the state of Indiana required in good standing
  • CURRENT ESTHETIC LICENSE preferred but not required
  • Maintains professional development through a variety of activities such as certifications, ongoing education, conferences, and participation in national organizations where applicable
  • Maintains required annual competency for employment as set forth by institution
  • CPR (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum of two years MASSAGE THERAPY experience-medical setting preferred

  • Demonstrates ability to lead by example
  • Understands and is accountable for MASSAGE THERAPY practices and standards while practicing under the scope of service
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills both verbally and nonverbal while working with patients, staff, visitors and other internal and external departmental contacts
