Our Corporate Procurement team has an immediate hybrid opening at our Voorhees, NJ headquarters for a Category Manager who is ready to take their career to the next level. As a Category Manager at Comar you will be a critical member of the team responsible for the procurement of goods and services for all Comar production sites. What you will do:

  • Develop, evaluate and negotiate proposals with new and existing suppliers to obtain the maximum benefit for the company (lead-time, cost and quality) working alongside Operations, Engineering and Product Development representatives.
  • Procure direct and indirect materials including but not limited to, Specialty Resin, Colorant, Liner, Maintenance, Repair, Operations (MRO), and Energy.
  • From the early stages of each project, develops a negotiation platform that allows quick and accurate estimates early in the development stage all the way through P.O. placement
  • Develop, implement and drive Capital Expenditure and all other Procurement related categories and strategies to optimize lowest Total Acquisition Cost (TAC).
  • Negotiate with and manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, performance guarantees, schedule adherence and quality.
  • Adopt appropriate supplier management and rating methodologies. Ensure suppliers adhere to corporate objectives as they relate to operations, cost, security, EHS and compliance to local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Function as the liaison between Engineering & Product Development, Comar Operations, and other Departments, acting as a single point of contact for Corporate Procurement and providing the best Customer Experience.
  • Implement initiatives through effective Project Management. Co-Manage projects and timelines with Comar Engineering and Product Development teams.
  • Select and perform internal and external cost and market comparisons (e.g. cost-benefit analysis and capabilities assessment)
  • Conduct business needs assessment, market research, strategy, request for proposals (RFP), selection, and contracting as needed.
  • Perform regular performance reviews with suppliers to drive performance to original contract and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all the procurement transactions, including compliance to supplier agreements, EHS standards, operating procedures, business rules, etc.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and 7 years of experience in procurement, responsible for capital expenditures for equipment and multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of office and purchasing applications. Full understanding of purchasing and inventory systems and interfaces with Finance, project, job costing, planning and forecasting.
  • Understanding of marketplace relating to capital equipment. Solid understanding of business issues and financial principles.

Preferred:
  • Experience working in a Medical Device Manufacturing and/or FDA Regulated industry (Plastics Packaging Manufacturing), with detailed knowledge about industry equipment, materials, and suppliers.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills including Microsoft Project and Excel (advanced-pivot tables, graphics, etc.).

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demands and to create sense of urgency for the fast-paced environment.
  • Inquisitive, self-starter and can work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus.
