Performs cashiering duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service and dining room facilities.

Expertise the incumbent must possess to perform day-to-day job duties. May include equipment operation and proficiency level, technical proficiency, and fluency in other languages, etc.

Computer skills and proficient in using Microsoft Office. Excellent customer service skills are required. Strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to communicate in professional, tactful and courteous manner with patients, family, doctors, leadership team and co-workers is required. Mental Abilities : Organize and prioritize; analyze situations and develop alternatives; analyze data and develop valid conclusions, develop clear, concise policies, procedures and correspondence; provide clear direction to others; manage duties in an environment of changing priorities and frequent deadlines.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (detailed explanation of the duties perform in the position to provide a service. (Last four duties should be included in all UMH's job descriptions)

Performs sales transactions in a timely fashion. Enters all sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded Follows standard procedures for issuing cash refunds Makes change, accepts declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment; issues receipts to customers. Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Observes customer purchases in the cafe line and differentiates between standard portions Ensures compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements Ensures compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards Observes facility, departmental and personnel policies and procedures. Complies with the employee Code of Ethics and Standards of Behavior. Attends and/or completes mandatory educational and training programs (CBL) and annual in-service trainings. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

Meets hospital-wide requirements by submitting annual tuberculin test and any other medical required for job classification and attends necessary in-service/education programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Included but not limited to the following)

The position requires considerable amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds. This work may involve, but is not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, or repositioning of objects, pieces of equipment, or patients. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.

WORKING CONDITIONS: (Included but not limited to the following)

This person spends 100% of their time in air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to excessive humidity or noise. The position does have some exposure to malodorous, infectious, body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

Physical Environment:

  • 100% of the shift in an air conditioned environment.
  • Noise levels range from low to high

Personal protective equipment including disposable gloves, gowns masks, and face shield are available if needed.
