ResponsibilitiesImplements and manages the JD Advisor Program, including recruiting and appointing JD Advisors, strategically hiring advisors for coverage in multiple practice areas and locations. Trains JD advisors on law school and ABA best practices, following up regularly to ensure continuity of job search strategies and proper documentation of advising sessions and employer outreach efforts. Coordinates the "Alumni Career Advisor Fair" and promotes JD Advisor Program to students.
Advises students and alumni on job search preparation activities including resume and application materials, job search strategies and resources. Advises students on practice areas including non-traditional legal careers, and opportunities with the federal government, including JAG, and state government, including outreach with State Attorney and Public Defender offices throughout the state.
Conducts presentations on job search, government, summer, and honors programs and professionalism topics.
Attends employer networking events, traveling as needed to meet with employers and attend law school events.
Oversees Career Services Office interaction with the alumni and student engagement platform and databases. Coordinates posting of news and information to the platform and facilitates alumni mentoring and advising. Serves as primary point of contact for platform use by students and alumni.
Serves as a lead advisor for students interested in criminal law, and jobs with the federal and state government. Conducts outreach to federal agencies and with State Attorney and Public Defender offices throughout the state and out of state. Coordinates related informational events. Assist the Assistant Director for Career Services with advising on judicial clerkships and outreach.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and four years experience related to academic and/or student services or a high school diploma or equivalent and the same experience equal to eight years. (Note: higher education may substitute for experience at an equivalent rate.)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact successfully with a variety of constituents.
Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software systems.
Five years of public interest and/or public service experience.
Five years of experience in the practice of law.
A JD degree.
FL Bar Admission is strongly desired.

Schedule: This position works in the office 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour break for lunch. Ability to travel and work evenings and occasional weekends.
