Valid has an outstanding opportunity for a Card Systems Manager. The successful candidate is a hand-on manager, who will lead card manufacturing for the Valid Identity Business Unit including facility staff, quality, safety, delivery, and cost. The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter, results driven, and detail oriented leader. He/She will be a part of the Identity Business Unit leadership team and assist with new card product design, qualification and introduction. This position is in Ft Wayne, Indiana and is not open to a remote work opportunity.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leads all card manufacturing solutions, services, supply chain, and operations in support of Identity Business Unit and contract SLAs
  • Leads the card manufacturing production facility including HW, SW, and staff
  • Ensures the team follows established security policies and procedures
  • Determines optimum plan of operations, equipment, etc. for productivity, cost, and quality
  • Establishes equipment maintenance/uptime standards, monitor effort and results
  • Leads resolution of manufacturing issues, including the coordination of 3rd party support services
  • Develops and reports timely metrics for production/operations and to drive continuous improvement of the manufacturing process
  • Documents and maintains work instructions and procedures in support of manufacturing processes
  • Supports internal and external audits
  • Assists in the resolution of supply chain and quality issues impacting manufacturing
  • Manages resources and provide status information and feedback to internal customers and management
  • Represents manufacturing at design reviews and business proposals
  • Manages and coordinates plant/facility staff. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance to company procedures and policies
  • Motivates and counsels staff in preserving an efficient, safe, and productive workplace
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (5+ years' experience in Operations Management) in a manufacturing/industrial setting
  • Proven record of card manufacturing / support processes and driving continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Demonstrated ability to perform manufacturing yield and issue analysis, root cause analysis and corrective action plans
  • Ability to effectively monitor operations with excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge ISO9001, NASPO, and card manufacturing standards
Required Skills
  • Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement techniques
  • Proficiency with MS Office is essential, working knowledge of Minitab or equivalent data analysis tool is desirable
  • Working knowledge of offset printing and plastic lamination technologies
  • Working knowledge of production quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain material inventory accuracy and conduct system transactions
  • Conduct interviews, hire new operations staff, and provide employee orientation
  • Establish goals, conduct feedback reviews, provide personal development advice to staff
