The Area Manager is responsible for providing daily support to the 1 st shift operation and associates through training, trouble shooting and policy enforcement. This position is located in Marengo, IL and is part of the Thomson Division within Altra Industrial Motion (the parent company).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned.
  • Train associates in proper manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure ABS tools are being followed. (Standard Work, Kamishibai Audits, Daily Management, Cross Training, Kanban, etc. )
  • Ensure associates comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Work with Supervisors and Leads for proper cell staffing.
  • Daily Management of QDIP objectives & goals
  • Responsible for implementation of countermeasures for misses to KPI's
  • Disciplinary Action when necessary
  • Implementation of AB tools
  • Production work schedules
  • Responsible for the proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste
  • Own KPI's for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.

Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field required.
  • 3 years of job-related experience in a Lean manufacturing environment required; 5S, TPM, Kanban, Kaizen, etc. 5 years preferred.
  • 3 years of machine shop supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to train others, a strong focus on safety and quality, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Computer skills, MS office, Outlook, ERP, Oracle preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mathematical and print reading skills
