Job Summary/Basic Function:
Work alongside personnel in various departments to help them fully utilize all tools provided, such as software and tech-related components and assisting employees in proper reporting procedures, clarifying data outputs, and assisting teams and team leads in using analysis tools to improve productivity.
Department Overview:
The Office of the Registrar is the hub of the University. We provide assistance with transcripts, registration and course scheduling, transfer credit and graduation evaluation, determination of Idaho residency for tuition, and catalog information.
Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Business Analyst, Associate must:

  • Identify user needs from user requests and develop strategies by which to meet those needs. Critically evaluate information from multiple sources and clearly indicate quality of final analysis. Assist senior analysts or analysis teams to collect data, and may help sort and distribute relevant data and perform follow-up tasks to confirm the findings of a senior analysis team.
  • Communicate complex data in comprehensible ways. Determine, implement, and evaluate business metrics to meet ongoing organizational or customer information needs. Analyze and report on complex data to meet customer needs. Assist executives and other business professionals in creating and honing efficient and productive business procedures.
  • Work alongside senior business analysts to collect and collate information and sift relevant data for use in reports and directives for senior management.
  • May help customer service teams to improve customer satisfaction, and may work with development teams to show how reaching daily and weekly progress benchmarks can increase productivity for other teams.
35% of Time the Business Analyst, Associate must:
  • Manage the maintenance and application development of PeopleSoft Student Records data
    • Runs processes, setup, communications, and workflows for scheduled events and calendar items.
    • Serves as the lead coordinator for end of term processing that includes making grades official, academic standing, and repeat cleanup.
    • Generates and develops SQL query of Peoplesoft tables to assist staff and campus users in conducting business operations and research.
    • Facilitate Fit/Gap Analysis for new products and custom developed components. Work with customers to ensure a complete review of the technology against current and changing business processes to insure the most complete and clear implementation possible.
    • Perform application and process research to determine the best solution available or the best alternative to accomplish the goals of the project.
    • Recommends automated system enhancements and modifications to improve efficiency across the Registrar's Office and the University.
    • Plans and directs modifications from idea generation, interviewing users to identify needs, designing solutions, creating specifications, testing and troubleshooting, and planning implementation.
    • Provides input to OIT analysts and programmers regarding service requirements and impact of design and/or changes, including prioritization of modifications.
    • Serves as liaison between functional users and OIT programming staff.
    • Assists with version upgrades of Campus Solutions PeopleSoft system, including researching and evaluating delivered functionality, documenting functionality changes, and conducting extensive system testing.
    • Maintain university online major change process.
    • Plays a pivotal role in all new and enhanced software implementations.
  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, quality control, and training/documentation of technical systems, processes and functions
    • Problem solving, troubleshooting and quality control of technical systems and related applications
    • Resolves problems encountered by users of the student records module in PeopleSoft or Perceptive Content. Provides support and assistance in the definition or the resolution of the problems for application-specific staff, providing solutions or working with OIT staff to resolve the problems.
    • Coordinates and oversees production of fix migrations for the student records portion of Perceptive Content.
    • Serves as Data Steward back-up.
    • Identifies test case criteria and reviews, analyzes and documents test results, recommending changes to achieve desired results.
    • Reviews logs for possible user and programming-related problems.
    • Monitors adherence to protocols and user manual instructions.
    • Develops procedures, user manuals, corrective action plans and document requirements.
    • Creates defensive and ad hoc queries in the PeopleSoft Query tool. Uses the results to identify issues or gaps in processes.
    • Develops, updates and adapts training material and guides.
    • Develops business model components (context diagram, activity diagram, process modeling/flowcharting, etc.)
    • Conducts training and evaluates training effectiveness.
5% of Time the Business Analyst, Associate must:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

$47,278.40 annually ($22.73 per hour).
