Job Summary – Broadcast Engineer



The Broadcast Engineer will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the company’s broadcast systems for a variety of live and studio applications. Engineer will provide pre-broadcast support for planning and rehearsal, as well as post-broadcast support in the form of editing and publishing program material. This role will also be responsible for facilitation professional quality broadcast via corporate clients existing Zoom environment. This is a highly collaborative position that requires strong communication skills and a thorough understanding of digital video, streaming & production. 

The ability to travel (specifically across the U.S. and internationally) sometimes at short notice, to execute events is a must. A resilient, versatile, multi-tasker, who has a willingness to work on multiple projects against hard deadlines and schedules will thrive in this role. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as lead technical resource and provide technical support for broadcasts and events, including switching video, wireless audio distribution, streaming, editing, etc…
  • Coordinate with client & staff to determine IT/AV infrastructure requirements for broadcast needs
  • Setup and breakdown of live events & prepping broadcast for streaming
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot in real-time, “on-air”
  • Perform routine testing and problem diagnosis of broadcast equipment & systems comprising of but not limited to: video switching, PTZ and manned cameras, wireless microphone distribution, digital video transport, etc…
  • Prepare and stage systems for Quality Control testing as applicable
  • Liaise, rehearse and work with client to understand production needs 
  • Proactively escalates matters to appropriate stakeholders while simultaneously helping to determine root-cause
  • Recommend equipment and best practices as applicable
  • Archive or edit and publish program as per the client’s requirements
  • Actively stay current on all relevant technologies and complete relevant product trainings when available

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interface and work with executive management in a highly dynamic, demanding, and mobile environment
  • Proficient with manned and PTZ cameras, white balancing, color correction and ‘irising’
  • Proficient with video switching – Analog Way, Black Magic Design 
  • Proficient with video encoding, soft encoders ie Wirecast; hard encoders ie Blackmagic
  • Proficient with non-linear video editing ie Final Cut, Avid, Adobe Premier, etc…
  • Proficient with AMX and Crestron equipment. Working knowledge of NetLinx Studio and Crestron Toolbox
  • Proficient with Zoom platform and in particular Zoom webinar or equivalent
  • Experience with Cisco endpoints & support
  • Strong understanding of video compression 
  • Familiarity with digital mixing consoles and Dante
  • Superior customer service and analytical abilities 
  • Strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn and work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of signal flow for audio, video and control
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively
  • Work regular hours, plus overtime as needed
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with senior executives and their staff
  • Ability to embrace ownership of and accountability for tasks/projects
  • Critical thinking skills 
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards


Education and/or Experience
  • Cisco CCT, CCENT, CCNA, certifications preferred
  • ITIL certifications preferred
  • AVIXA/InfoComm CTS preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of IT/Networking theory, topology, and best practices
  • Videoconferencing experience including configuration, operation, call set-up and equipment management
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of AV best practices and procedures
  • Education Level preferred: 2 Year College Degree or technical school preferred
  • Years Total Experience: 5+ preferred
