Position Overview:

The Motiva Benefits Advisor is a Human Resources, Compensation, Benefits, and Medical Team member, reporting directly to the Director - Total Rewards & Medical. The role of the Benefits Advisor requires an individual to apply administrative, client relations, and compliance experience in Benefits Administration. This individual will collaborate across business functions (Legal, Finance, and Human Resources). The incumbent will be the Subject Matter Expert and primary person to educate, coach, and upskill Motiva HR professionals on Motiva's benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical knowledge and experience administering various retirement plans such as qualified and non-qualified 401(k) and pension plans in accordance with plan documents, policies, and procedures
  • Manages relationships with consultants, actuaries, auditors, and retirement plan administration vendors
  • Works with external consultants to strategize, design and implement retirement plan offerings and/or maintain compliance with changing legislation
  • Participates in retirement plan surveys and compiles market data and trends to benchmark against industry peers to ensure competitiveness
  • Designs, conducts, and advises on various retirement plan topics to inform and educate management and employees about changes to retirement plans, administrative practices, and legislative requirements
  • Assures compliance with ERISA and other legislative requirements
  • Ensure retirement plan programs, processes, and systems are implemented to drive efficiencies and eliminate errors
  • Responsible for managing all government compliance and reporting activities (annual non-discrimination, PBGC, and 5500 filings)
  • Monitors and reports the plans financial performance
  • Develop, implement, and communicate financial wellness programs
  • Partner with internal risk/audit to review SSAE16 and SOC 1&2 reports as well as pension actuarial assumptions to ensure compliance
  • Research and respond to participant claim appeals in accordance with federal requirements
  • Responsible for co-facilitating quarterly Benefit Committee meetings
  • Perform other duties as required
Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources or related field with an emphasis in business or finance
  • Minimum 10 years of Retirement Plan Administration
  • Knowledgeable in ERISA
  • Strong ability to influence and hold others accountable
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong Business Acumen
  • Collaborative and a Team Player, proactive in partnering with HRBP's
  • Ability to execute timely and effectively
