As we plan to play a very important role in the development of personalized medicine, by moving advances from the laboratories to the clinic for improved patient-centric care, the Basic Life Research Scientist in the Thakor Lab plays a vital role in performing complex functions and activities involved in defined research projects. The successful applicant must have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent with prior relevant training and coursework in nanotechnology, biomaterial, or biomedical engeneering. Experience in grant and paper writing is a necessary requirement. They will be in a leadership position in the lab, helping manage and coordinate research and experiments and helping on the different projects that are currently ongoing in the lab. Experience in biofabrication and physico-chemical charactherization techniques of scaffold and nanoparticles - made of different biomaterial (i.e. synthetic and natural) - are necessary requirements. Sterile tissue culture techniques, cell-based imaging and assays (immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, ELISA) and mesenchymal stem cell, pancreatic islets or 3D cell biology experience are also preferred. He/she should be able to work independently in a dynamic, fast paced team environment and is expected to be organized and highly productive. Successful applicants will also have a track record of productive research, presentations and publication.
