What to expect:

You will be responsible for supporting the execution of the client's go to market strategy and delivering the value of GC's products and services appropriate to that treaty/ business unit need in manner consistent with our firm's Global Mission Statement with the particular client. The Associate I coordinates his or her efforts with the AE in order that the transaction is aligned with the overall engagement.

You will be relied upon to:

  • Analyze risks and assists with developing solutions for clients' needs.
  • Assist with responding to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly in order to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Support and assists in the design, development, and marketing of new brokerage products and programs to win new projects.
  • Assist more senior level Brokers on more complex client assignments.
  • Demonstrate proficient awareness of market conditions to better serve clients and inform more junior Brokers on market trends.
  • Update management on issues, progress, etc., regularly and upon request to ensure high quality client service.
  • Monitor accounts (payments, collections, etc.) anticipating and preventing problems when possible.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and insurance/reinsurance companies to efficiently communicate client demands and requests internally.
  • Assess contract documents and bond forms, as well as banking terms and conditions.
  • Assess and explain for the Client the terms and conditions of General Agreement of Indemnity required to be executed by Clients to support all surety transactions.
  • Assess financial statements for all industries with specific knowledge of each industries unique financial metrics.

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • 3 years related experience
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts and terms for developing and placing reinsurance programs, preparing placement slips and cover notes and drafting or amending new and existing contracts.
  • Good interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client, reinsurer and internal relationships.
  • Good verbal and writing skills for complex communications (presentations, negotiations, etc.) with clients, markets and GC colleagues at many levels.
  • Good ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
  • Good ability to find creative solutions to new problems, as they arise.
  • Good ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills for using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-wide quality initiatives.
  • Good ability to work as part of a team to support clients' needs.
  • Good ability to address client needs by accessing and organizing resources.
  • Good ability to handle significant workflow through efficient time management.
  • Good ability to challenge appropriately - supports case with facts and information.
  • Good ability to seek ways to streamline and improve current processes.
  • Good ability to possess technical knowledge/expertise as demonstrated by the ability to provide appropriate support to clients.
  • Ability to travel (including internationally), entertain, and attend meetings, up to 30% of the time.
