Reporting to the General Counsel, this position primarily provides commercial legal support to Life Fitness's global operations, including contract review and drafting, real estate, financing and credit, and general commercial activity. The Associate General Counsel will also provide support as needed in connection with acquisitions and divestitures. The role is hybrid and is based in Rosemont, Illinois, and will serve as a business partner to the Company's leadership team. Occasional business travel will be expected, particularly in regard to supporting Life Fitness's international business operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line commercial legal support for all Life Fitness operations, particularly in regard to commercial contracts
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret complex contracts in compliance with company policies and risk tolerance profile
  • Consult with business leaders and provide guidance on the legal aspects of policies, procedures and processes to accomplish company objectives
  • Support finance functions with credit and financing programs
  • Support mergers and acquisitions ("M&A") team with strategic transactions
  • Provide contract lifecycle management, legal, and ethics and compliance training to employees

Job Specifications:

Required:
  • JD degree
  • General corporate background; corporate governance management; well-versed in commercial contracting/terms and conditions
  • 5-8 years of experience with general commercial transactions, including contract drafting, credit and financing
  • Clear, concise, effective communicator
  • Team player
  • Experience successfully taking on projects involving unfamiliar subject matters, and working effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience developing approaches to legal challenges while providing business-focused legal advice
  • Humility and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Demonstrated integrity, initiative, resilience, and courage
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois

Preferred:
  • Experience with M&A activity
  • Past representation of or in-house experience in a manufacturing company
  • Some exposure to international legal issues
