Summary: This position will be responsible for the ideation and creation of the Spirit 'In Store Experience' displays, and other special projects, from conception through production. This will be done in collaboration with Operations, Marketing, and Buying departments. Development of concepts will range from story board/3D design, to structural engineering and special effects design, continuing through the approval phase and formulation of design specifications for sourcing and production.
  • Highly creative with an ability to visualize and execute breakthrough displays/presentations that will excite the Guest and generate a 'WOW' factor.
  • Design displays which are cutting edge, delivering an experience to the Guest not usually encountered in Retail, but also highly consistent in execution, and replication store to store.
  • Ability to author a story and concept, through storyboards and visual aids, in partnership with Merchants and Creative Services, in order to achieve Executive approvals
  • Engineer and translate concepts to detailed 3D/architectural design, using SketchUp, or similar 3D software programs, in a process that brings concepts to reality
  • Formulate and collaborate on a strategy for graphics/textures/lighting, working alongside the Creative Services team, to conceptualize in 3D, to obtain artwork approval, and to deliver in production
  • Follow and manage an organized timeline for design creation/approval, in order to receive full approval of concept/structure/assembly, for production.
  • Lead a team of internal/external partners through each phase of a project, using verbal, written, and organizational skills, to ensure cohesion and collaboration.
  • Partner with Visual and Operations teams for hands-on sample assembly and review of samples, in order to value engineer and simplify for end users, providing vendors with detailed feedback for improvementCapable merchandiser in 3D and in reality, working with Merchants and Visual to maximize space, functionality, shoppability, and the marketability of each product on display.
  • Partner with Visual Merchandisers to determine detailed documentation and instruction, as well as training practices for program roll-out and execution at store level.
  • Oversee and supply members of Guest Service department (Zombie Tech Squad) with relevant information regarding field troubleshooting and support for each project/display in which involved.
  • Review all concepts, designs, effects, and related specifications with Director, obtaining approvals prior to plan execution.
  • Possess a passion for theme design/production, specifically Halloween 'haunts' or the Horror genre, and the ability to translate that into a Guest experience that will increase sales and further enhance the Spirit brand.
  • Maintain timelines and budget with all products/projects in which involved.
  • Dedication to research and development, and planning for a thorough and complete roll-out of new designs, effects, and tools, which enhance the Guest experience and Associate execution.
  • Willingness to continue learning design techniques, some technical or software based, and others pertaining to special effects in the Halloween/Haunt industry
  • Assist with management of special projects and other duties, as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or Engineering, or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive experience with SketchUp or similar 3D/architectural software, for design of assigned projects. This includes the use of Photoshop or similar image/graphic editing software, for applying imagery and textures to objects in 3D and 2D. Also required is intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, for use in creating tracking/reporting on projects, as well as manuals and instructions.
  • Highly creative with an ability to thrive in a collaborative work setting.
  • Enthusiastic about Halloween, with experience or passion for Home-Haunts or themed events.
  • Strong sketching, illustration, and 3D rendering skills.
  • Detail oriented, with solid organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Must exhibit versatility and creativity in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Exhibits urgency and ownership of projects in which involved.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and success working will strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with multiple teams.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Previous design or project management experienceTravel to stores and other events to research future opportunities, will be required at varying times.
