Required:

Ph.D. in Plant Systematics or a closely related field, with training in modern DNA techniques; strongly prefer broad training in botany, with commitment to teaching an array of undergraduate and graduate courses, and interests in in field botany and taxonomy; ABD candidates will also be considered. ABD candidates will be hired as an instructor (tenure-track) until the terminal degree is received.

Primary Responsibilities:

Appointment Date: January or August 2023

The Department of Natural Sciences is part of the College of Agriculture, Life and Physical Sciences (ALPS).

Primary Responsibilities: Teach 12 semester credit hours per semester (usually three courses); course reduction for active research. Courses can include, but not be limited to, General Botany, Biology for Majors I and II, Plants and People, Plant Systematics, Field Botany, Plant Taxonomy, and other advanced courses.

Delivery of courses will be through face to face as well as distance delivery.

Establishment of an externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, as well as participation in professional development, and university and community service.

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Position is Security Sensitive.

This is a nine-month tenure-track position.

The Department of Natural Sciences offers BS and MS degrees in Biology, Geology, and Natural Resource Management. The graduate programs enroll approximately thirty students, primarily thesis seeking. Although research is encouraged, excellence in classroom instruction is the first priority of the department.
