Organization
Serve as the primary communications contact for OU’s volleyball and women’s gymnastics programs, and act as annual local media coordinator for the Women’s College World Series (held in Oklahoma City). Serve in a supervisory role with research fellows and student assistants, particularly with sports of men’s and women’s tennis. Create unique written content, features and releases, design media guides, compile statistics, oversee/execute website and social media content, arrange media interviews, conduct interviews, travel to away events, etc. Assist in all aspects of office activity and in coverage of other sports and events as required.
Essential Functions: 

    Publicity: manage website and social media for volleyball and women’s gymnastics; develop written content (features and press releases); traditional media relations functions such as coordinating media interviews, developing game notes for TV/radio each week, pitching stories to local mediaStatistics: run stats program; keep stats during competitions and maintain statistical records throughout the season; provide stats to media, coaches, opponents throughout the seasonGame management: issue and distribute media credentials; conduct post-competition press conferences; manage press row and coordinate with marketing, event management and SoonerVision groups; track and distribute statistics; provide live updates to media and fans via live stats and social media feedsPublications: develop game programs, media guides, flipcards, etc. for media and fans prior to and throughout the season Other: assist with recruiting projects; help with other sports throughout the department; supervise student interns and research fellows; etc.


Job Location
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or related fieldEquivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degreeSkills:
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, coaches, adminstrators and other staff
  • Able to demonstrate ability to work well with a diverse group of clients
  • Able to gain and maintain working knowledge of university, Big 12, and NCAA rules and regulations
Certifications:
    None
Departmental Preferences:
    Master’s degree Knowledge of NCAA rules.Prior experience in collegiate athletics or related field.Knowladge of and experience with volleyball and gymnastics
