The Assistant Director, Recruitment & Student Services, leads planning and coordination of student life and services for the Fels Institute of Government. The Assistant Director also supports recruitment, academic advising and other projects for the Fels Institute of Government. Primary responsibilities include supporting all phases of the recruitment and admissions process, supporting student groups and coordinating support resources for students, and supporting academic administration and advising. The Assistant Director will work closely with students and staff members to ensure a strong and cohesive student experience for both full-time and executive (part-time) students. This role will also assist with team-wide responsibilities such as events. This role is hybrid eligible and requires evening and occasional weekend work scheduled in advance. Job Responsibilities

Lead Student Services and Engagement: Manage Fels student clubs and engage Fels student community; support student group events, connect groups with student government and other appropriate campus offices, and ensure they adhere to Penn policies and procedures. Facilitate student groups and extracurricular opportunities that improve the student experience, including managing online student community platform. Support needs of individual students by developing support resources and connecting to existing resources at Penn including Weingarten Center, Writing Center, Student Health and Counseling, on and off campus support resources, cultural and affinity groups, and other resources for academic and overall support and wellness.

Academic Advising and Administration: Support students in course planning, graduation requirements & auditing and other duties. Use and maintain Fels-specific and University-wide systems to track degree progress and ensure satisfactory academic progress. Communicate progress and provide specific supports to students who may be at risk or on academic probation. With Director and other staff, maintain student handbook and ensure students are aware of academic and other policies of Fels and University of Pennsylvania. Support students as needed in connecting with academic and support resources, time management, other resources at the University.

Recruitment: Support all phases of student recruitment and admissions processes, including engaging with prospective students and recently admitted students. Meet application and enrollment targets through effective communication with prospects and other strategies. Provide professional customer service and respond to inquiries via phone, walk-ins and email. With other staff members, coordinate recruitment events, such as graduate fairs, information sessions, and other areas. Follow up with qualified prospects and partner organizations to increase yield for full-time and executive MPA tracks. Use a variety of technology systems and tools to track and improve the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

·Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination

of education and experience, is required.

·Ideal candidate should have experience building relationships with diverse

populations, providing support to students, and navigating large systems to

identify resources.

·Ideal candidate has experience supporting first generation and BIPOC

student populations in higher education setting.

·Ideal candidate has experience developing custom support resources or

workshops to support specific stakeholder needs.

·Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to

detail. Comfort in fast-paced environment and multi-tasking.

·Systems orientation and strong computer/technology skills. Proficiency in

Microsoft Office suite, and a willingness to work with new software and

technology.

·Strong ability to simplify and systematize tasks and processes. A proactive,

analytical problem solver.

·Strong goal and results orientation. Strategic thinking, sound judgment

and discretion with access to sensitive information.

·Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal

skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships and communi-

cate effectively with diverse audiences.

·Qualified candidates must be willing to work occasional nights and

weekends.

Targeted Pay Range: $51,824- $71,528
