Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI) is a healthcare services organization created to further the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine; namely, to improve the health of the global community by setting the standard of excellence in medical education, research and clinical care. To accomplish this mission, JHI has developed a series of products and services to assist public and private sector clients raise the standard of care at medical institutions abroad. Among those products and services include hospital management support, clinical care, medical program development, education, training, quality assurance, patient safety, international accreditation, and other similar services.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Patient Services for Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHMI), this position will assist with planning, directing and improving the operational and information system solutions for Johns Hopkins Medicine International. The Assistant Director works to implement the COO's agenda by serving as lead project manager for initiatives and tasks advancing the clinical operations, efficiency, human capital and fiscal planning needs of JHMI. Position is responsible for managing and facilitating the identification, implementation and going measurement of multiple, complex projects under limited guidance, which improve the effectiveness and quality of JHMI. The Assistant Director also works closely with the leadership team to define the IT and telecommunication strategy and set priorities for ongoing improvement. Leads initiatives to integrate JHMI processes and systems with JHM. The Assistant Director will also work with end users to understand their needs and incorporate processes (workflows, tasks, and dashboards), resolve technical issues, and coordinate with other teams to develop system enhancements/functionality.

Education:

Master's degree in business, health care administration, or related field required.

Demonstrated record of business operations in health care.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of hospital and university operations and administration preferred
  • Knowledge of operational optimization best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of business and financial tools and practices. Demonstrated ability to use a variety of analytical techniques to gather data and analyze reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of customer service and staff engagement theory, practice, and administration to plan and evaluate workforce standards and practice.
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management applications

Required Licensure Certification, etc.

Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, Lean, or similar training preferred.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in: health care, operations, or consulting.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, managerial, or project management experience required
  • Process and System Design/Improvement Experience, Lean Sigma (preferred)
  • International Healthcare experience (preferred).
  • Experience in data management and statistical analyses to recommend courses of action based on data.
  • Experience in performing analyses of flow, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization to develop and recommend courses of action.
  • Experience in identifying and illustrating relationships among complex activities.
