Position Summary

The Assistant Director of the Patient Access Center leads the transformation of the access center into a center of excellence for our patients and their families. Patients and their families are the reason we are here to serve our community, and we need a leader that is able to help transform our department to help support that vision. The primary goal is to ensure that our patients and their families have a positive experience in their appointment-scheduling journey. The Assistant Director of the Patient Access Center partners with various departments at all sites of The MFA and with counterparts at GW Hospital to create a roadmap for incredible scheduling experiences, this includes but is not limited to, patient service, training, quality management, telephony, and serving as a subject matter expert on call center and call center tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

Administration:

  • Analyze operations and needs to determine potential
  • Work with leadership to develop policies and procedures for division/department/program operations, and ensures compliance with established policies.
  • Pursue the implementation of best practices in operations consistent with overall
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory policies and
  • Stay abreast of call center policies, and best practices.
  • Responsible for working with call center leadership on the improvement of call center performance.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a team dedicated to workforce planning, and telephony system maintenance.
Financial:
  • Develop and maintain systems for managing and reporting financial activities.
  • Review and analyze productivity and financial performance via reports. Then implement the necessary plans for improvement.
  • Responsible for budget creation and accountable for variances.
  • Oversee business plan Project volumes, capital needs, and operating expenses associated with business development projects.
  • Collaborate with finance to achieve targets and maintain alignment with institutional priorities.
Strategic:
  • With department leadership, plan and direct activities that relate to improved access. Provide administrative leadership in developing business strategies and tactics to support the goals of the group, and the MFA's overall strategic plans for market growth and development. This includes not only market growth and business development, but strategic planning for all aspects of capacity management.
Supervisory:
  • Support managers through recruitment, selection, orientation, and ongoing performance management for employees.
  • Encourage professional development of the workforce. Including the assessment of staff needs for continuing education.

Qualifications

Education
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or Public Health or 10+ years of relevant leadership experience.
Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years in healthcare and 5 years in management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Previous budgeting experience
  • Proven analytical skills
