The University of Tennessee School of Art seeks dynamic and energetic candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position in its nationally ranked Printmaking program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Primary responsibilities include instruction of two courses each semester with additional responsibilities to maintain an active creative research agenda, support the graduate program, mentor students, and contribute service to the department, university, and profession.

The successful applicant will join the School of Art's Printmaking faculty and be expected to pursue and advance high-quality creative activity and/or scholarship in the field of printmaking commensurate with the research expectations of a land-grant, R1, flagship institution. The position will build upon our programs' strengths to advance interdisciplinary research, bridge existing expertise, and foster collaboration across the School of Art.

The position will instruct School of Art undergraduate majors with a focus on our Studio Art BFA and BA degrees. An ideal candidate will have the ability to teach lithography and book arts / papermaking with additional abilities in letterpress, intaglio, relief printing, screen printing, or digital processes. At the graduate level, the position will provide important contributions to and support for our nationally ranked Printmaking MFA program (#4 in the nation and #3 among public universities by US News and World Report) through recruiting, mentoring, supervising, teaching area seminars, and serving on thesis committees.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

All candidates must hold an MFA or other relevant terminal degree and have a minimum of two years, post-graduate experience in teaching and mentorship at the college level with a demonstrated commitment to excellence.

• Applicants for Assistant Professor must have an active creative practice that demonstrates the promise of national recognition through a record of exhibitions, presentations, or other professional research activities in the field of printmaking broadly.
• Applicants for Associate Professor must have or had an appointment at a four-year university at the rank of Associate Professor or higher; have established a reputation as effective instructors as judged by their students and faculty peers; and have an active creative practice that demonstrates established national recognition through a record of exhibitions, presentations, or other professional research activities in the field of printmaking broadly.

Preferred qualifications:

• Proficiency teaching book arts and papermaking with additional abilities in lithography, letterpress, intaglio, relief printing, screen printing, or digital processes.
• Excellent communication skills
