Art Director



As an Art Director at Bob's, you'll roll up your sleeves and join our small but mighty, and very talented, creative team.

All of our advertising is done in-house. Behind the store in Manchester you'll find several full production studios where we do everything from scratch. In addition to producing marketing materials for all digital channels and out of home, we also do all of our own broadcast and radio advertising. This includes fabricating the Little Bob puppets in our 3D printing lab, stop motion animation, recording booths, full set builds with an in-house carpenter, interior design, merchandising and even a large print shop where we design, print and ship all signage for each of our 130+ stores.

Responsibilities

1) Nurture and grow our junior design team

• Your success will be dependent on their success
• Provide feedback, direction, training, and coaching

2) Advocate for our marketing agenda across the company

• Build relationships with individuals in our ecomm, customer experience, merchandising, IT and other departments
• Juggling priorities, which may include the need to push back on certain projects

3) Collaborate with Creative Director on data driven strategy and concepts

• Staying on top of and leveraging social, marketing, design and industry trends
• Develop and maintain an understanding of marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and our audiences
• Continually analyzing data and optimizing creative to increase performance of marketing materials over time
• Building out a strategic content calendar for all channels

4) Maintain graphic, voice & brand consistency across all deliverables

• Review graphic materials to assess their validity and appropriateness for our brand and provide feedback when edits are needed
• Collaborate with the rest of the creative and advertising teams across different types of media

5) Produce high quality marketing materials for large scale 360 campaigns

• Produce sketches, storyboards, & presentations to visualize and sell through ideas
• Take work from concept to final execution within deadlines
• Work with the art department to create original graphic content for the company's website, social media pages and other marketing materials
• Manage multiple projects for yourself and those that you are mentoring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Visual/Graphic Design (preference over an art degree)
• 5-8 years working design experience, must include previous management experience
• Expert level knowledge of standard design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
• Experience working on production sets and with photographers preferred
• Background in design and advertising for retail or similar industry is a must
• Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to develop ideas with exceptional design quality through a broad range of print and digital channels (will not consider applicants without an online portfolio)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, persuasive in presenting ideas to internal teams
• Able to juggle multiple projects and tight deadlines
• Critical eye for detail and strong organizational skills
• A creative thinker, able to bring fresh ideas to all design challenges
