Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Admission Counselor role is directly responsible for recruiting and enrolling prospective students through regional recruitment, on-campus and virtual programs and project work. Extensive travel, some evening/weekend work, and a valid driver's license and personal automobile are required. Strong communication skills are required; bilingual language skills preferred. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of recruitment for an assigned geographic territory
  • Develop a comprehensive prospect pool in your territory
  • Strategically select, schedule, and participate in high school visits and college fairs
  • Maintain sustained communication with all prospective students and families
  • Intentionally develop and maintain strategic relationships with high school counselors
  • Assist with all on-campus events
  • Advise & consult with prospective students and families on admission to Oglethorpe
  • Deliver contextually appropriate presentations & visit experiences
  • Engage in intentional and continual learning about the offerings of an Oglethorpe education and best practices in the field of Admission
  • Create a warm and inclusive atmosphere on-campus
  • Answer questions thoughtfully and thoroughly for families; provide exceptional customer service
  • Review and evaluate applicants for admission
  • Critically evaluate applicants for admission based on Oglethorpes institutional priorities and goals
  • Serve as an ambassador of the Oglethorpe brand at all times
  • Be punctual and reliable for all scheduled work hours and events
  • Be professional, polite, engaged, and welcoming at all times
  • Work on weekends and evenings as required for events, high school visits, and college fairs
  • Qualified applicant will possess a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of admission experience. We seek energetic candidates with demonstrated initiative, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work well independently and in a team. Position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to analyze data to inform decision-making, computer literacy, strong organizational and planning skills, and attention to detail. Proficiency with CRM (Slate), event management, and/or video production/editing preferred. Work Environment:Normal use of office equipment, sitting at a desk, walking or standing, occasional lifting (25 lbs).
