Job Description

A full-time position is available as an administrative support for the Chen-Plotkin lab, which is part of the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. Our research programs study neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Parkinson's disease and frontotemporal dementia. Projects range from clinical research into biomarkers for disease states and outcomes to studying the basic mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration.

We are looking for a highly motivated person to manage the administrative needs of the lab. Duties include:
(1) Scheduling for the PI and lab members.

(2) Providing administrative support for the lab's biobanking activities, including organizing regular meetings of the biobank team and tracking biosample requests.

(3) Keeping websites for the lab, as well as the associated Molecular Integration in Neurological Diagnosis (MIND) Initiative, up to date.

(4) Assisting the PI with administrative duties related to multi-part, multi-PI grants.

(5) Managing all shipping needs of the lab.

(6) Assisting the lab manager with lab orders and records, as needed.

Position is contingent on continued grant funding.

Qualifications:

High School diploma and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior experience providing administrative support in an academic environment is needed, with experience within a scientific environment preferred. All members of the lab are also expected to attend weekly lab meetings. Candidates should be enthusiastic, willing to learn, very well-organized, and interested in taking ownership of problems as they arise.
