REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller

SUPERVISES: N/A

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains detailed schedules of information inputted into the financial accounting system
  • Audits journal entries to ensure properly logged in Finance journal entry log
  • Inputs and posts journal entries into the General Ledger accounting system
  • Maintains and organizes accounting journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Scans, organizes, and maintains all accounting journal entries electronically
  • Assists with providing support documentation for interim and year-end financial audits
  • Supports various audits by Defense Contracting Audit Agency (DCAA) - to include audits which require going into the shipyard for observation and fulfilling timely responses to data requests
  • Performs various account reconciliations
  • Assists with archiving of Company records with off-site storage supplier
  • Monitors and processes all per diem requests for employee travel to ensure employees are properly compensated
  • Notifies Payroll Department of weekly per diem payments for those employees on travel and provides notification of other travel related deductions required for employee reimbursement of Company paid costs
  • Assists with processing of accounts receivable for Austal USA and its subsidiaries
  • Prepares and maintains written policies and procedures within specific area of responsibility
  • Liaisons with Accountants, Auditors, and other personnel to assist on special projects
  • Maintains compliance with Company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college experience is a plus
  • 3-5 tears' experience in an Accounting environment required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to assess issues and initiate solutions with management
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning system a plus

LIAISES WITH: All departmental management and personnel throughout the organization, external auditors, Customers, and governmental auditors.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • All candidates must meet Austal USA's basic employment eligibility guidelines:
