Job Description:

Department of Labor is seeking an Accountant I for our Accounting team. We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, efficiency driven, customer focused, team oriented, loves to learn, and has a high personal standard of integrity. Examples of Work

•Prepare and upload vouchers.
•Pre-audit and post entries daily.
•Update/monitor expense reimbursement transactions.
•Retrieve and file cash report daily.
•Special projects as assigned.
•Provide backup functions to other staff within the Accounting unit.

Hire Rate is $17.216

Location: 550 S. 16th St - Lincoln, NE
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Monday - Friday

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior participation in a team environment, knowledge of accounting transactions, flexible and adaptable with problem solving skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: the methods of filing and maintaining accounting records; Microsoft Excel; database management.

Skill in: using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report.

Ability to: learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs, regulations and procedures of an accounting system; learn and apply GAAP practices and standards; maintain, and reconcile accounts; review accounting documents for completeness and conformance with specific requirements and to take the appropriate corrective action when necessary; compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.
