Job Summary

The School of Optometry is seeking a Software Developer/Computer Programmer to work directly with Ms. Peterson, Drs. Swanson, Burns and King as well as the Swanson and Burns labs' graduate students to collaborate in the continuous development of the lab's software.

Modifies existing programs as needed, including a contrast sensitivity perimetry (CSP) program for testing visual function in patients with glaucoma, analysis and segmentation of retinal images, realistic simulations of neural processing and responses to visual stimuli. Utilizes MatLab, using both linear and object-oriented paradigms, to implement the lab's software. Works on programs as the lab is exploring effective and high-quality methods for data display and image processing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or near completion) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline and two years of programming experience in a scientific or professional environment.

Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Advanced knowledge in MatLab and Object Oriented Programming. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of C++. Experience in advanced methods of image processing.

Work Hours

10-12 hours per week. Candidate should be available to work on-site when needed, but virtual work will be encouraged whenever appropriate, per recommendations by Indiana University.
